The Wartime Prayer Book Campaign
A FOURTH OF JULY APPEAL FOR OUR TROOPS Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May the Lord give you His peace! I would like to thank you, first of all, for your generous response to our Foundation’s recent March appeal for Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s canonization cause. I also want to thank you for your promise of continued prayers for our work. We heard from many of you who expressed excitement over the Mass on February 3rd in the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria, IL. This Mass was joined with the ceremony called the Postrema Sessio which closed the official investigation into the life and sanctity of Archbishop Sheen on the diocesan level. Everything was then transferred to Rome and on April 15th, the Archbishop’s cause was officially opened with a ceremony at the offices of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Vatican officials opened the sealed crate that contained two copies of the cause’s almost 6,500 pages of documentation as well as over 67 books written by Archbishop Sheen. Msgr. Richard Soseman, Episcopal Delegate of the Foundation for the past four years, and newly appointed Executive Director for the Archbishop Sheen Foundation, Fr. Stanley Deptula, were present at this blessed event along with various Vatican officials. This new phase of Archbishop Sheen’s sainthood process normally takes a few years to complete. However, since thousands of pages of documents were sent to Rome for the cause, we can never be sure that the process may not take longer. One thing that would be important, however, is that there be no unnecessary “stops” or “pauses” as the process continues. For this reason, first I ask for your continued prayers for the cause. We would never have arrived at this point were it not for the grace of God. And so together, let us beseech God in prayer to hasten this journey so that by His will, Archbishop Sheen may be declared the saint that America and the world needs today. At the same time, I must ask for your continued generous financial assistance. The Wartime Prayer Book campaign is still an essential part of the fundraising for our Foundation. It allows us to provide spiritual support for our troops through obtaining copies of the prayer book for them as well as to help raise the funds necessary to keep his canonization cause moving forward. To date we have already sent about a hundred thousand copies of the Wartime Prayer Book to our troops, not just in Iraq and Afghanistan, but all over the world! The testimonials that we have received attest to the great spiritual good that this campaign has helped to bring about. All this would not have been possible were it not for the generosity of donors like you! The upcoming July 4th celebration is just around the corner. As our country comes together this Fourth of July to commemorate and celebrate our nation’s freedom and independence, please remember the hundreds of thousands of troops who continue to serve in war stricken areas and are in desperate need of spiritual support. For many of them, the Wartime Prayer Book is exactly the spiritual companion that they were looking for! Won’t you help us ensure that ALL those who ask for this precious spiritual tool receive their own personal copy? The soldier pictured above CLICK HERE TO SEND PRAYER BOOKS TO OUR TROOPS It has been quite a while since I have written to ask you to support this project so I urge you to consider making a very generous donation towards the Wartime Prayer Book campaign again today! You will not just be spiritually supporting our troops, but you will also be helping to move Archbishop Sheen’s canonization cause forward. Asking the Lord to bless you and your loved ones, I remain

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM Dear Friends of Fulton Sheen, For over 3 years now, CatholicMil and the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation have been working together to help provide our military men and women with the sppiritual support they so desperately need. Approximately 36% of the Armed Forces are Catholic, yet
in today's global war against terrorism, there are less than
375 priests to serve them. During World War II, there were
3,220 priests ministering to our troops. Such startling I have personally heard from deployed chaplains all around the globe, stationed is such places are Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Germany and Bosnia, as well as from chaplains stationed right here in the United States. All express their tremendous gratitude to you who support this program! Remarkably, through these timeless Wartime Prayer
Books, soldiers and sailors who are brave enough to
defend us from terrorism, admit sometimes that they are "afraid to go to confession". Fulton Sheen is bringing them Also, there is now Eucharistic adoration in Iraq, thanks to our American Catholic
soldiers and chaplains, and Fulton Sheen books are there! Please give as generously as you can to support our troops! |
